Who broke dead keys input on linux ?
I just realized that Excel and all OpenDocument spreadsheets use 64-bit binary floating-point numbers to perform calculations. When dealing with money, however, it's necessary a base-10 data type, conceptually with arbitrary precision and, in practice, at least 18 decimal digits. This means practically no spreadsheet in the world is prepared for working with money.

After more than 25 years, I'm giving up on GNOME. I'm searching for a new desktop environment. Right now, with a single requirement: comprehensive, mature support for wayland, including flicker-free hardware acceleration.

I've used fvwm2, flwm, fluxbox, GNOME 1, 2 and 3, KDE 1 and 2, Enlightenment, XFCE, LXQT, and Ubuntu Unity.

The abusive behavior that was being used to manipulate Lasse Collin into bringing on more maintainers for #xz went unnoticed because abusive behavior in Open Source communities is so pervasive. In context, we can clearly see it was part of an orchestrated operation. Out of context, it looks like just another asshole complaining about stuff they have no right to complain about. https://robmensching.com/blog/posts/2024/03/30/a-microcosm-of-the-interactions-in-open-source-projects/
A Microcosm of the interactions in Open Source projects | RobMensching.com

Originally a thread on Twitter about the xz/liblzma vulnerability, when I finished typing it, I realized I had a real world slice of Open Source interaction that deserved more attention.

Tried twice to transfer Bitcoin from my mother's wallet to mine using the Lightning network. Spent a total of 12782 sats, couldn't finish it, canceled. It was the worst user experience with a technology I've had in my life. #bitcoin #lightning
Scrum, agile, the never-ending waltz of JavaScript frameworks, clean code obsessions, the JVM's eternal hum, and crushing LeetCode problems... for what? It's enough to drive a dev mad! The web's a glorious dumpster fire, and apparently, two decades of furious coding hasn't yielded a single piece of software that doesn't want to implode spectacularly. Someone hand me the whiskey, this existential crisis ain't fixing itself.
