I'm interested on embedded systems.
I'm a FLOSS enjoyer. I translate @kicad, @FreeCAD, etc. to Spanish. Using Arch Linux btw.
I love irony and sarcasm (¬ . ¬) , 90's cyberpunk anime...

Version 9.0.0 Released

The KiCad project is proud to announce the release of the next major version of KiCad. Version 9 is packed with new features, improvements, and hundreds of bug fixes. We hope you enjoy the new version! Head to the KiCad download page to get your copy of the new version (note that some packages may still be in the process of being released at the time this announcement is published). Our thanks go out to everyone who contributed to KiCad this past year. Whether your contribution was large or small, writing code, submitting bug reports, improving our libraries and documentation, or just supporting us financially: your help made a difference. In accordance with the KiCad stable release policy, version 8 of KiCad will no longer be actively maintained, and we will release bug fix versions of KiCad 9.x over the next year as we develop new features for KiCad 10. Read on to see some of the highlights of the new version!

Thinking of Aaron Swartz today & I’m stuck on this photo - he & OpenAI CEO Sam Altman (both circled) each scraped 1000s of docs but one did it to make the knowledge free for all while the other did it to make $$$$ through probabilistic plagiarism. The US DOJ only came after one of them & the other is feted by tech bros and executives.

Thank you Aaron for so much, for RSS, for Markdown, for Creative Commons and more. I’m sorry our society failed you.

You've probably heard that "we are stardust," but this graphic breaks it down further & tells you what kind of stars your dust came from--and which elements didn't come from stars at all.

NASA Scientific Visualization Studio | Periodic Table of the Elements: Origins of the Elements

The periodic table organizes all the known elements by atomic number, which is the number of protons in each atom of the element. This version of the table, which draws on data compiled by astronomer Jennifer Johnson from Ohio State University, shows our current understanding of how each element found on Earth was originally produced. Most of them ultimately have cosmic origins. Some elements were created with the birth of the universe, while others were made during the lives or deaths of stars. The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will help us understand the cosmic era when stars first began forming. The mission will help scientists learn more about how elements were created and distributed throughout galaxies. The related Tumblr post is here. ||

Still very #prototype but my carbon filament winder project (soon to be seen in @themagpi magazine) is up and running (on/hanging off a very messy desk!) All made in the mighty #FreeCAD and currently running on #GRBL #opensource #CNC

Just a little too late >.<, to celebrate the FreeCAD 1.0 release I made a video with a visualization of the dynamics of contributions on @FreeCAD source code Git repository using the gource tool, you can check it here:

Starting a bit late, as always, but here is #SCADvent again.

The #OpenSCAD advent calendar is different this time, it's the "Tutorial Edition". We'll try to bring 15 lessons starting at the very basics but hopefully also showing some interesting things later.

In between there will be some fun designs so for even for people not interested in the tutorial there is something nice to find.

Day 1 of #SCADvent is a simple christmas tree created using a little bit of math.
