One thing this article kind of glosses over is that Lysenko rejected genetics and evolution on ideological grounds.

This led to a purge of biologists and politicians dictating science to scientists, which then led to starvation in the USSR and communist China (the starvation Mao was famous for came from listening to Lysenko).

The irony is that Christian Nationalists point at the starvation under Mao and try to blame it on atheism, even as they launch…
