I live down the street from an immigration center in #Texas. In fact, I live down the street from the center where migrants were recruited and shipped off to Martha's Vineyard. I drive by it every time I leave my house.

Trust me on this, there's no migrant crisis. All this controversy about a "migrant crisis" and Texas being on the verge of a civil war or whatever, it's not my daily experience at all. The whole narrative is propaganda, and it's delusional to take seriously.

Minnesota gov smacks down Republican for taking credit for Biden projects he voted against

Rep. Pete Stauber (R-MN) took to X on Monday to boast that he had helped secure funding to repair a bridge in northern Minnesota. The problem is that it is a lie."I'm proud to announce that Duluth, MN and Superior, WI have received over 1 billion in federal funding to help replace the Blatnik Bridge...

2/ I guess I need to elaborate.

No, it’s not ONLY a cult.

I know that. But thanks.

I understand what it is, I’ve covered Trump’s “politics” since 2011.

Sometimes I just don’t feel like reiterating the whole refrain about his vile base: “He sounds just like me!” & “We must eradicate “the other”! & “We’re aggrieved!” & “We resent you!” & “We’re a bunch of racist, bigoted ignorami who need Daddy to dictate our lives!”

Sometimes I use shorthand/a quip to cover all that.

"Federal appeals court ruled Friday that #Jan6 defendants can be found culpable of “disorderly” or “disruptive” conduct inside Capitol even if they weren’t personally violent or destructive.

The decision is a victory for DOJ in cases against 100s of defendants charged with misdemeanor counts of disorderly & disruptive conduct, one of the staple charges that has been applied to nearly every member of the mob that entered the halls of Congress" #legal

Court says even passive members of Jan. 6 mob can be convicted of disorderly conduct

The decision is a victory for the Justice Department on one of the most common charges lodged against Jan. 6 defendants.

Welp, I guess we have another dog. Older owner, poor health, can't keep him, so he's been added to the menagerie.
Say hello to Sammy.

Monita moves.

proteins are the keys to life, so my vote for most underreported #AI story of the year:
We demonstrate direct inference of full atomic-level protein structure from primary sequence using a #largelanguagemodel…This results in an order-of-magnitude acceleration of high-resolution structure prediction…to construct the ESM Metagenomic Atlas by predicting structures for >617 million #metagenomicproteinsequences, incl >225 million that are predicted with high confidence…

Justice Sandra Day O’Connor has passed away. She made history as the first woman on the Supreme Court. And because she was so often the pivotal swing vote, how she came down on an issue usually determined which way the Court would rule. Though I often disagreed with her, the moderate conservatism she espoused seems almost liberal by today’s standards. Rest in power, Justice O’Connor.
