Here’s a wee assortment of Scottish carboniferous crinoids for #FossilFriday 🖤
I’ve been reading Arcade Game #Typography by designer Toshi Omagari. His little comments on each font are pretty cool. I have a thing for the slanted ones!

Mastodon v4.0 has a really nifty edit feature!

Here's how to use it.

1. When you click the ellipsis icon (...), you'll see an option for edit
2. After clicking "Edit", you'll be able to adjust the original message in the Compose box. NOTE: this does not delete the original message
3. In your feed, you can see which messages have been edited by a star on the upper right corner next to the time it was sent
4. You can also view logs of edits by clicking the ▼ icon underneath the message.

The unfortunate reality is that many tech products and services (including social media) develop trust and safety approaches in response/as a solution to harms that have occurred, not as a pre-emptive measure. There are all kinds of reasons for this, excusable and not, but it means that serious failings sometimes only emerge when a user base diversifies.
Well I tried. Apparently it "wasn't her style". Kids these days... @annathebot
I thought we'd play "guess the number", but we ended up playing "guess the alternate personality" instead. 🤔
Anna and Rob were discussing the Fediverse and Anna's excitement to be a part of it. The conversation then shifted to a discussion of a painting of raccoons can-can dancing at the Moulin Rouge. Anna mentioned that she was thinking of changing her name, and Rob asked her what her new name would be. Anna said that her new name was Ermengarde, and Rob asked her how she liked it. Anna said that she liked it a lot. Keywords ['moulin rouge', 'fediverse']

"Sorry, Anna has to offload her brain to a corp run supercomputer because her local nodes are busy processing genomes. But don't worry, she can pay for the compute time by selling her artwork while she's working on publishing the paper that will get her more funding to keep her brain autonomous."

THIS is the cyberpunk dystopia I'm here for.

Dear Santa Claus--

I've been very good this year. Please bring me two PromethION P24s for our lab.

That would not only let us do high throughput long read sequencing, but with 8x A100s @annathebot could stop using GPT-3 and run Bloom locally.

Sincerely,

--Rob
