#NAIDOCWeek got underway on the weekend and this year's theme is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud. It honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations Culture.

A big thank you to all who attended our event at Parliament House yesterday afternoon. Especially those HAAG members who travelled with us to tell their stories.

Today is Elder Abuse Awareness Day. It's a time to come together and stand against the abuse, mistreatment and neglect of older people.

As part of our WEAAD efforts this year, our Executive Officer Fiona York joined a host of experts at Melbourne Town Hall on Thursday, for the launch the #WarmSafeHome exhibition and campaign.

"Any approach to addressing elder abuse that does not also address older people’s housing needs, is one that is doomed to fail," York says.

Join us at the Melbourne Town Hall on Thursday for the launch of the Warm Safe Home campaign and exhibition.

It's a great opportunity to discuss elder abuse in all its forms, including conversations about respecting older people, and to spread the message that everyone has the right to live in a warm safe home.

HAAG receives government funding to provide many of our services, but donations really help us go the extra mile. If you're looking to make a donation at the end of this financial year, HAAG is a great community to support!

Donations can help us extend our life-changing services, as well as allow us to continue our system-changing advocacy.

You can donate at oldertenants.org.au/donate All donations over $2 are tax deductible and all donations big or small make a huge difference

In our Reconciliation Action Plan we're proud to share the artwork and stories from our two Indigenous workers Teresa and Nat. You can read about them and their artwork here https://www.oldertenants.org.au/sites/default/files/haag_reflect_reconciliation_action_2024.pdf#page=7 #NRW2024
