Incisive oped from former head of cyber security at GCHQ, calling the mass surveillance provision in the UK's Online Safety Bill "a hugely controversial power that damages Britain’s reputation for online security."

Couldn't agree more.

#ChatControl

I've said this before, but...

#Encryption is #math .

There is no math that "the good guys" can do but which "the bad guys" cannot do.

"Responsible encryption" and "lawful access" are #lies designed to get you to give up your #privacy willingly.

#Refuse to do this. #Demand end-to-end encryption in *everything*.

#E2EE #LawfulAccess

If this poll is anything to go by, the public support for #e2ee and #privacy in UK, currently under attack from #onlinesafetybill seems lukewarm at best. @openrightsgroup
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m001n9sh/panorama-is-china-watching-you The absurdity of it all. Big fuss about some Chinese made CCTV gear. Meanwhile the #onlinesafetybill is dangerously close to become law. Oh wait, that’s the good guys spying, right… where’s the big panorama special on that?

Let’s not kid ourselves. The “think of the children” argument is a smokescreen. What the government really wants (and the Labour party is complicit) is for the security services and the police to have complete and total access to all of our communications whenever it suits them. All of us. You’d think we’d have learned something after #Snowden. It’s not our “job” as citizens to make the work of the authorities easier by giving up our own #Privacy.
