Apologies, I was not going to post anymore on Thursday's by-election.... but I've just read this comment by an un-named Labour ministersin the FT:

'A Green victory is easily the worst outcome'....

NO!!!!: a ReformUK Ltd win would have been the worst outcome... the very idea that Labour could see Hannah Spencer's victory as worse than Matthew Goodwin & Reform winning pretty much sums up the problem with the Labour Party!

I keep seeing comments about Gmail ads.

I've never over many years seen any … Where do they appear?

Do I not see them because I mainly access Gmail via the Apple Mail client?

I rarely access Gmail via a browser but don't see Gmail ads there either. Is that because I use Firefox with Adblock Plus?

I would like to switch my main email to something like Tuta but it would be a real hassle to change. So many services communicate via email.

How about a tool to make the switch easier?

Trump ran an entire campagin on “No more stupid wars”, and “America First”, only to rename The Department of Defence to The Department of War, and proceed to attack both Venezuela and Iran, while constantly being offended that he is not offered The Nobel Peace Prize.

The US is led by the insane.

🎉 Big Tech alternatives are finally getting mainstream media attention! 🎉

Yesterday, The Guardian published a piece on how people and organizations can leave Big Tech behind and choose ethical, privacy-focused alternatives, a topic we’ve been passionate about at Tuta for a long time. 🙌🔐

Thank-you to Steve Rose for mentioning Tuta. It’s great to see privacy-first solutions getting recognition. 🙏

Americans Are Leaving the U.S. in Record Numbers

Driven by high living costs and safety concerns, a record number of Americans are relocating to Europe. Drawn by affordable healthcare, cheaper education, and favorable visas, everyday families, remote workers, and retirees are increasingly choosing European lifestyles and social policies over remaining in the U.S.

The Trump Administration is Trafficking Pregnant Children to Texas So They Can't Get Abortions

At least half of these unaccompanied migrant kids are rape victims, and all are being denied adequate medical care for high-risk pregnancies in a state with sky-high maternal mortality rates.

I am sad, and fucking angry, at how my country is swerving to the right in support of racists and cowards.
The UK *needs* immigration. It doesn't need 'reform'.
@gwentlarry So that, I think, is quite common in nearly every spoken language and the very reason, that — as the author pointed out — understanding language from the past would be as difficult as understanding anything from the future as well … I think. 2/2
