I am the volunteer lead for besmartforkids.org in Wake County, NC and I volunteer with #freebsd. My job is head of partnerships and open source at NetActuate.

In free time I enjoy soccer, live music, travelling, cooking, yoga, talking to friends

Now I get it. Silly me.

All this time I thought Trump was promising SO MUCH WINNING

when he was really forecasting SO MUCH WHINING

Honest mistake, my bad. Sharing in case this is useful to others

The Open Infra meetup on May 21 in Stockholm is open for registration.

I'll chip in with a light-weight blab I call "State actors, sleeper agents and plain bugs. Curl security matters."

In my online undergraduate P5.js course, students are about to begin the module on motion and physics, including a bit of physics simulation using Matter.js. It suddenly occurred to me that I had never seen anybody put together this particular demo before, and I realized it had to be done. Messy source code at https://editor.p5js.org/isohedral/full/vJa5RiZWs.

I finally got around to update OpenJDK 25 to version 25.0.2 in the FreeBSD ports tree. It will hit the pkg repos for those following the latest update stream soon. Those following the quarterly updates will get it in the next quarterly release (early April, or thereabout.)

The upstream release notes for this release is here:

In addition I have included a fix that affects FreeBSD due to the way jemalloc handles alignment for small allocations. Upstream has scheduled this for OpenJDK 26, but since version 25 is an LTS release I thought it would make sense to include it here so that users that run LTS releases don't have to wait until the next LTS release to get it.

Thanks to the @FreeBSD Foundation for sponsoring my work on OpenJDK for FreeBSD.

Also today, the default Java version on FreeBSD has been updated to version 21, thanks to the tireless work of @Ronald Klop!

Yay!

Pretty good. Appropriate mix of anger, optimism, pragmatism, calling out Trump's corrupt and divisive policies
