Got out of work early so I had time to catch a matinee for the first time in a while.
I saw Exit 8!
I enjoyed it and I *love* The Walking Man.

When you pause a film to look up what the characters are eating because you don't recognize it.
The answer is Congee.
And now I'm kind of craving Oatmeal, but back to the movie. XD
Tired and feeling like a lump. Was going to go out to the movies to see Exit 8 but didn't want to go alone.
Random Netflix movie time: Mudborn (2025).
Like many others, I'm a little frustrated about the announcement #Draft2Digital sent out.
I guess I'm glad I got in before they started the $20 activation fee.
But I can't help but think there has to be a better way for them to combat the influx of AI slop (assuming that is the reason) than penalizing those of us making the least on our books.

So I wrote a piece on the new #Draft2Digital fees:

I've been chatting about the #draft2digital announcement with others and if they had just announced a yearly fee to help cover storage and service costs, I would have been irritated but fine.
This change targets low sellers and protects bulk slop. Which is infuriating @draft2digital.bsky.social
Self-publishing platform Draft2Digital is introducing an activation fee ($20USD) and an annual fee ($12USD) for accounts earning under $100 annually.
They say it's to combat the many "automated and low quality" slop accounts being created. Having to pay up front will put some off, and the fee will pay for staff and systems that review accounts and books.
So taking them at their word, it's yet another example of AI screwing over authors.
#Draft2Digital
I'm so angry about this #draft2digital thing it is almost funny.
At the very least, at least I'm learning I'm not the only author making less than $100 a year from book sales.
