@alice what blows me away (but shouldn't, of course) is that I've been saying "folks" or, as you suggest, variants that combine "you" and "all" forever in every presentation, book, and business or casual meeting I've ever had for almost two decades.

My standard opening remark is "hey, everyone"

That's not what is remarkable.

What blows me away is that (a) the reply guys don't know that I do this deliberately and (b) even those who notice my words do not give me static about it in the least.

Gee, it's almost like someone who looks like me can say whatever they want but someone who looks like you gets an earful regardless of how correct and unobjectionable your point is. 🙃
