The Guardian

"we need to open our eyes to the fact that the current industry many of us work in, not only doesn’t care about their workers, it actively resents them. In their eyes, we have gone from being the people who made things possible, to an unnecessary burden on the bottom line.

They hate that we charge money for our labor, and see that money as something we are stealing from their pockets."

@svenhennessen yup. Sounds like a good plan. Feel free to reach out whenever you have questions, i’m a Caf (French DAV) splitboard guide, and always happy to help. Happy turns and ride safe! 🤙

If you read through "Something Big Is Coming" and it raised alarm bells for you about generative AI (or, like me, about the author himself), please read through Zitron's annotated version. Matt Shumer has a vested financial interest in pushing AI and people who are not AI boosters mostly do not write in this way.

@svenhennessen started with beacon/probe/shovel and snowshoes. Also an Avalanche safety training. Later bought a split (but you could def rent a few times) and joined an alpine club (like DAV in Germany). Then lots of practice, more training classes (wayfinding, rescue, …). Also some tours with mountain guides.
