@wonderofscience I was waiting for a punchline...

"So a meteor, a galaxy, and a mountain walk into a bar..."

@heidilifeldman Somehow he's managed to wrap up the "let them eat cake" of the French Revolution with the ethos of the "Gilded Age" in America AND the worst abuses of the capitalist class in Nazi Germany into one horrific package.

Can we skip ahead to the Ceausescu ending on this one? Asking for a friend...

@GeePawHill My dad ran a small plastics plant in the 70s and 80s, and he was not a fan of unions, to put it mildly.

He had a novel solution to keep the unions out of his shop: He paid his people as good or better than they could get by unionizing, and treated them better as well. His people were fiercely loyal to him (and vice versa) and whenever a union would try to organize the shop, it was the employees who threw them out.

He really did treat his people like family, and it worked.

@nixCraft I would recommend watching a video from You Tuber Yugopnik called "LinkedIn is Hell."

He's a former Yugoslavian leftist and he nails it.

@Fat_Farang The thing that blows my mind is how fear of "communism" has taken hold despite the fact that international communism collapsed around the same time that acid-washed jeans were popular. The 18-34 demo has no memory of the time before the Berlin Wall fell, but an absurd number of them have fallen for "Red Scare" tactics.

It boggles the mind.

@randahl Why does Alex Jones STILL have a platform where he can spew this bullshit?

@DocAtCDI Back when the "WWJD" movement was in full swing, I was cut off in traffic by a driver in a gold-colored Mercedes with a "WWJD" sticker on the back.

Instead of getting angry, a thought came to mind out of nowhere. "Would Jesus Really Do THAT?"

I've always thought that was a better question.

@QasimRashid My father (who passed in 87) was a lifelong member of the NRA. I doubt he would recognize it now. I took an NRA sponsored gun safety course back in the 70s, and the one thing they drilled into us was to never, ever, EVER point a firearm at (or even in the general direction of) another human being.

Now they're a right wing political outfit that reads more like the old "Soldier of Fortune" magazines. Gun nuts, and not in a good way.

@QasimRashid "bUt mUh fReEdOmS!"

@georgetakei Before there was a "Celebrity" Apprentice, a friend of mine was on the last season of the previous version. When Trump was introduced to the cast members, he went down the line glad handing the guys and hitting on the women. When he got to my friend he looked directly at her chest and said "honey, if you want to make it anywhere in this business you're going to have to do something about those."

He sexually harassed her on day one. That's Donald Trump for you.
