Cataract surgery 7½ weeks ago. First 5-6 weeks was like seeing the world thru overdone HDR colors; I literally forgot what true colors looked like.

My wife recently told me she doesn't understand why people consciously convert photos to black and white because they don't look real. I almost always prefer black and white images and never thought about it that way. But after thinking about what she said, I (kind of) see her point.

What do you think?

[002-365] Had some nice weather last week, but the rain has returned. These small flower buds will probably bloom within the week.

[001-365] We live in a suburban/rural area and see a lot of wildlife in our backyard. Most often deer, squirrel, rabbit, hawk, and racoon to name a few, and every so often black bear, bald eagle, owl, and coyote. And on rare occasions we have mountain lion sightings.

The deer literally think they own the neighborhood and completely ignore you unless approached within 3-4 meters 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Cherry blossoms (桜) bloom for about a week, and their peak ends in 2-3 days 💔💔💔💔

On the bright side, there are about 100 different types of cherry trees, and they sometimes bloom at different times during the spring. So if you're lucky and live in an area with more than one type you get more than those 2-3 days of peak viewing time.

Badly hurt lower back 7 weeks ago reaching down to tie my shoes.

Getting old (physically) sucks. First time I've been forced to severely cut back activities for so long. Both doctors I saw said it's a consequence of getting old.

Depressing first few weeks. I can take physical pain, but not being able to (normally) work out took some getting used to. Just need to take it slow and listen to my body.

Last post mentioned 8 year photography hiatus. Learned something new recently; NEVER buy photo gear from Amazon.

How their AI packaging algorithm chose to ship a fragile camera lens in a 😱paper bag😱 and VERY thin sheet of bubble wrap blows my mind.

For those who don't know, fulfillment center employees are FORCED to package how the computer tells them to, so the ground workers are not at fault here.

love Buldok Ramen, so the Buldak Carbonara display caught my eye.

how does Buldok's spiciness play with carbonara? (eggs, black pepper, pecorino romano/parmesan cheese, and guanciale/pancetta)

the signature hot spiciness is mostly gone; tastes like a watered-down mix of Buldok with cheap processed American cheese

not 🤮🤮, but will only eat when there's nothing else
