Linux for music production.

The more people use Linux to produce music, the more software there will be for #Linux in the future. And soon the big plugin developer will no longer be able to ignore us. 😎

I was able to add a couple more people to my "Linux Audio" collection for those who are doing music production on the Linux platform.

Since people can't be added to collections unless their Mastodon site is using Mastodon 4.6 or higher, I have to add people little by little as their Mastodon sites update.

Little by little I guess. I think in the end it will be a great feature! :)

New Audacity beta is such a step up, UI-wise.

A new Waterfall view built on a reassigned spectrogram, band audition (solo or cut any frequency band), a split spectrum view, fractional-octave smoothing, adjustable tilt, draggable curve ordering, and an L+R mono-sum channel mode.

It also brings a reorganized six-tab settings layout, a reworked Light theme, a fresh About dialog, and a thorough performance pass across the oscilloscope and analyzer.

@linuxdaw Isn't TDR Prism available for Linux great news? And many more plugins from Tokyo Dawn Records. When did this happen? Is this news or just old news?

Prism was one of the few plugins I missed when I said goodbye to yabridge and Windows Plugins a few years ago.

All of you #LinuxAudio posters need to configure your account to allow people to put you in #Collections There were several people I wanted to recommend, but they haven't opted in yet.

Hey everyone! We finally updated our GitHub organization membership to remove previously inactive members. They are certainly welcome to be re-added should they want to continue contributing, though!

(If you are a previous member, please contact us and we'll add you again too)!

It's not a miracle cure. I have a talk event live recording that needs to be processed quickly, and its not for publication and also not paid extra… yet as often with live stereo recordings, the levels go up and down way too much.

For speakers who had used the microphone more or less properly I can find a setting that works well. For those holding the mic towards the belly button while moving their head a lot,… well, can't rescue those.

I'd really love to test a #JüngerAudio #LevelMagic unit but I can't sell my car to afford one used…

As always, using @x42 #EBU128 radar meter to check things, and #Voxengo #Elephant as final limiter via #Yabridge. In #Ardour this time.

(1/4) Dear #linuxaudio friends. Over the past few months I've been hard at work on a major LAD website overhaul. Today I put it live. 🥳

Many changes lay the groundwork for releasing the #sourcecode and enabling a community-driven future of the initiative.

What's new:
* Dynamic templates & data store for all data types
* New Hardware/Software Recipes data type linked to artists/developers and their interviews

Vital vs Surge XT: How To Pick Your Free Synthesizer in 2026

Every few weeks, someone asks me some version of the same question. Should I learn Vital or Surge XT? It’s a tough question because these are the two best free synths you can download in 2026, and either one can realistically be called the greatest free synth of all time. So I decided to test
