Very excited to see this finally published. The trenching on the Hundalee Fault with Otago and GNS was definitely a high point from my time in NZ🇳🇿. My colleagues aren't on Mastodon yet, but they did really wonderful work on this paper and project, and I'm stoked I was able to be a small part of it!

(2/3) In this paper, we describe the structural characterisation of the Hundalee Fault, the neotectonics based on our fault trenching and dating of a surface-rupture scrarp, and tectonic geomorphology of the Hundalee area.
Then we use all this to evaluate the relationship between the Hundalee and other surface-rupture faults from the Kaikōura earthquake.
For fun, here are a few photos of our trenching!

(1/3) 🚨📢 New paper alert!
Focused on the #HundaleeFault, one of the faults involved in the complex rupture sequence from the 2016 #Kaikōura #earthquake.

#introduction Hi! I'm Kat, a structural geologist who is now working as a text and map editor at #USGS. Same handle as on twitter, just checking this place out for now; if it sticks will be for fun #geology and science stuff, and pretty pictures.
