A new paper from the Stanford Internet Observatory finds troubling amounts of CSAM on Fediverse servers.

IFTAS is working on providing hash and match service and reporting support for ActivityPub servers, and will be convening platform and app developers to integrate CSAM scanning options in the default installation.

Providers are encouraged to consider blocking servers known to be a source of illegal content.

A fun way to see how #ChatGPT doesn't understand the real world is to present it with a classical logic puzzle with a twist.

For example: the Monty Hall problem, but you literally open all the doors and show what's behind them before choosing a door. Or the wolf/goat/cabbage across a river problem, but you've got 3 friends to help and there are 3 bridges across the river.

Reading the Stanford Internet Observatory report "Child Safety on Federated Social Media" :

"Counterintuitively, to enable the scaling of the Fediverse as a whole, some centralized components will be required, particularly in the area of child safety. Investment in one or more centralized clearinghouses for performing content scanning (as well as investment in moderation tooling) would be beneficial to the Fediverse as a whole."

reminder for everyone who may have missed it the last few times

the only reason that brave browser exists is because its ceo was kicked from mozilla for being a homophobe & transphobe

by contuing to use that software you are activity supporting and promoting a company that not only hates lgbtqia+ people but was born out of that bigotry

brave browser is also filled with many not very cool things everything from cryptocurrency scams to link redirection to so much more

there are tones of other chromium , webkit , or firefox based browsers that do can do most everything that brave browser can do or more in terms of "privacy" and just as much or more on terms of useability

please i urge anyone who cares enough about these things to have installed brave in the first place to migrate form brave to something better

heres some good alternatives to try

firefox , chromium , librewolf , ungoogled-chromium , gnone web, kde falkon , qutebrowser , tor browser, thats just a few tho id mostly suggest one of either ff, ch, lw, unch

There is no benefit to anyone on the left being on twitter.

Nina Turner tweeted "Insulin should be free." some libertarians responded "Nina should pick cotton for free."

Did this obvious racism hurt them? No, they now have more followers than ever. Being over there is just being bait for these extremists to build their network.

Grotesque racist images of Nina, rather than being demoted by the algorithm are being *promoted* since the people posting them paid for blue checks.

"Eating a vegan diet massively reduces the damage to the environment caused by food production, the most comprehensive analysis to date has concluded.

The research showed that vegan diets resulted in 75% less climate-heating emissions, water pollution and land use than diets in which more than 100g of meat a day was eaten. Vegan diets also cut the destruction of wildlife by 66% and water use by 54%, the study found."
