Alabama 1974: The Super Outbreak Through a Family’s Lens

Today on 'Lost Memories, Found Memories', we delve into a uniquely poignant part of our recent acquisition: a collection of about 30 Super 8 color tapes spanning from the early 70s to the 80s, believed to belong to a family from Alabama. While most of the tapes are filled with cherished family memories, particularly Christmas celebrations and some rugby matches, one tape stood out starkly: labeled simply as…

Tesla drivers are the most accident-prone, according to a LendingTree analysis of 30 car brands.

It found that Tesla drivers are involved in more accidents than drivers of any other brand. Tesla drivers had 23.54 accidents per 1,000 drivers. Ram (22.76) and Subaru (20.90) were the only other brands with more than 20.00 accidents per 1,000 drivers for every brand.

So much for the claim that all of the technology in Teslas makes them safer than other cars.

Echoes of Gibraltar: A Glimpse into the Past with Barbary Macaques and Vintage Planes

'Lost Memories, Found Memories' presents nostalgic footage from a British family's Super 8 camera highlighting Gibraltar's past, probably from late 60s or early 70s. The film showcases the unique Barbary macaques, vintage scenes of Gibraltar’s airport, and a propeller plane, set to the distinct musical piece 'Invention No. 8 Collage' by Joe DeGeorge.

An Unforeseen Treasure: The 1967 Easter Monday Wedding

In our journey of rediscovering the past through film, we occasionally stumble upon pieces that are nothing short of astonishing. Today, I share with you a gem that, frankly, I never expected to find when I embarked on this project. It's a revelation that compelled me to take the risk of sharing, despite recognizable faces in the footage and lacking their explicit authorization.

“Masai New York”: A Cinematic Blend of Worlds Apart

In the latest addition to our film anthology, 'Masai New York' emerges as a vivid tapestry woven from the very essence of contrast. This piece is a deliberate intermingling of two disparate worlds: the untamed beauty of a Kenyan safari and the vibrant pulse of New York City. Crafted from fragments of two separate recordings, this film transcends the simple act of viewing.

Unveiling the Past: The First Reel of Memories

Welcome to a reflective journey as we unveil the very first batch of Super 8 films that sparked the creation of 'Lost Memories, Found Memories'. With no precedent and a heart full of anticipation, I embarked on digitizing eleven reels, a collection shrouded in mystery with labels in German, yet procured from what seems to be a quaint shop in Catalonia.

Embarking on a Journey of Rediscovery

Welcome to the inaugural post of 'Lost Memories, Found Memories'. This blog is more than just a collection of stories; it's a chronicle of a unique endeavor – resurrecting the past from reels of 8 mm and Super 8 films. At the heart of this project lies a deep respect for these fragments of history. Each frame, each moment captured, holds a story, an untold narrative waiting to be rediscovered.
