I'm working on a tool for understanding obstacles 🚧 and overcoming them in a way that feels easy, friendly and safe. This is my work diary. Feel free to reach out with questions, feedback, ideas. 💁‍♀️

🇬🇧 Most of my posts are in English, but there's some in German, too.
🇩🇪 Ich poste meisten auf Englisch, weil mich Austausch über Sprach- und Ländergrenzen hinweg interessiert. Ab und an gibt es hier aber auch Posts auf Deutsch.

Expressing empathy in a way that touches someone isn’t always easy. I’ve been both at the giving and receiving end of empathy mishaps and I’m sure you’ve been too. That’s why I made a little guide to help us out ✨

Someone around you is having a hard time and you don’t know what to say? Look here!

Or are you struggling and people are lost for words? Send this to them.

Also, I think want to have „how can we best care for each other“ conversations with people before anything comes up again.

It's not just me, right?

I build to-do webs in this way:

1. I’ll take each task from the to-do list and break it down into the subtasks needed to get it done. (if you find this step difficult maybe https://goblin.tools by @chton can help)
2. I put each of the subtasks inside a bubble and connect them with arrows in a logical order.
3. I look for connections between different tasks. In this example: I want to clean before I shower before I go out. The arrows indicate this.

Well, I can show you how this works for me. Let’s go through today’s to-do list? See below! I’ve idled away very much time of my life because of this.

These linear lists don’t work for my brain. but I want to show you what works for me. It isn’t extraordinary, maybe it’s also silly to post about it. It’s a bit more messy and takes more time writing it out. But to me it makes all the difference and maybe someone out there who needs this, too.

It is my very firm belief that some of the issues with #ExecutiveDysfunction stem from your brain not liking the way things are commonly meant to be done.

It is also my firm belief that it is possible to adapt the systems so they work for you instead of needing to adapt yourself to the systems (and often fail).

I want to make my case today about *to-do lists.*

To-do lists are just the way how you manage to get shit done, right? You put it on a list and work through it. Easy enough 😬

I'm often stuck because something feels off inside but I can't name or address it. That's why I'm building a framework to help understand and gently change your inner states. Here's a first draft for differentiating the levels of emotional arousal.

This helps me knowing myself better. I'm often superficially calm but not quite okay. Turns out that there's often some emotions that have gone from red to blue because I couldn't deal with them. Buried, but still interfering. Can anyone relate?

🚨 This is your friendly nudge to go out and look for early signs of spring today (you know, if you're in the higher latitudes of the Northern hemisphere). It was the best and most life-giving thing I've done today. Look how pretty these flowers are - and their smell was divine, too.

Below are some of the issues I think I might help with. But please note: I'm not a professional but I think I may have useful knowledge to help people and I also want to practice my skills and see if this is something I would enjoy doing more.
