I joined mastodon.social in November 2016. 6 years later I decided to try my hand at a new instance, my own đŸ€Ș😅: [email protected]

Folks, in view of my 2019-era shadowban that I don't think will be lifted any time soon, I'm moving to a new instance. You can find me over @gersande. It's an instance I spun up for myself this evening out of something not wholly unlike morbid curiosity. I'll be posting there for the foreseeable future. Or at least until I crash it 😅 A big thank you to @leifurhauks's invaluable help fixing my sysadminy mistakes.
Mini-update: my email to staff@ has gone unanswered. This post gives some light — can anyone else confirm this? 😂 https://cloudisland.nz/@aurynn/109310217437209392

If you wonder why the memes about mastodon.social and mastodon.online being unmoderated go around it's because they literally only have one moderator right now

@VamptVo Absolutely amazing. Solving the problems created by the solutions to problems that actually did not exist!

To #BIPOC / #POC users of Mastodon (others can boost):

What do you make of CW culture and norms on here?

The people I see being most vocal about it are 99.99% White people which feels like a red flag

(edit: White people - you're welcome to read and boost, but please be mindful about replies as this is a discussion by and for BIPOC. This includes replies to other people's replies. Preferably just don't comment in this thread, I've gotten tired trying to moderate even well-meaning folk.)

Aaaahhh @Kayray I found the fiber arts crowd! Follow @fiberarts & then you can tag that account to share a post with everyone in the group.

Ditto @kidlit for my #childrensbooks crew

One more delicious means of connecting

I keep forgetting that people cannot see my posts unless they already follow me because I am shadowbanned on my instance (see pinned posts in my profile for the thread-saga) so most of my replies are being completely hidden!! Oh well.
I'm gonna keep posting this until one of you fucking boosts it

@lunavives So there is a way to set the language of your post directly when making a publication in the browser. Many of the phone apps don't have language pickers, however, and default to English.

I will say that CW use in other languages such as French is not quite as ubiquitous for political stuff, but it might also vary a bit between instances and communities — and languages! Uncertain what the various hispanophone communities prefer.
