FWIW I no longer have GMAPs and only use OrganicMaps now. IMO, it's just as good. The only two caveats:
No traffic data - but you're old enough to know how to plan for that.
Your area may or may not have resturants/facilities populated fully or properly. So, sometimes I do need to hop onto a computer and use Gmaps on desktop to find info on a place.

Fun fact about this image - this was the first large size print I did. It was certainly intimidating getting an international order for a 2m wide paper print!
Thankfully, I was able to find a local printer in Australia so that I could save the client the otherwise enormous shipping costs.

Today I share a favourite from a trip years ago into the high mountains of the Assiniboine Range in #Canada during fall when the golden larches were at their absolute peak. The golden larches dotting the landscape in golden colouring at every turn.
Highly recommend backpacking this region. It is absolutely stunning.
