When every company is focused on AI buzzwording, the city of Zurich reminds tram passengers that a real smart city requires real human intelligence. 👌

Anecdotal, but it looks like the #CrossBorderRail line between Switzerland and Liechtenstein is currently closed due to track works in Schaan. Unrelatedly, the plans to double this 10km track were rejected by referundum in 2020: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rail_transport_in_Liechtenstein

Not sure what kind of train would come from Novara (and by which route anyway?) to Paris Est, but that's what the screen says. Maintenance? Testing for future expansion to the Italian market? Special charter for the olympics? 🤔

Aside that, the usual: staff and announcements complaining heavily about people talking (not loudly, train half empty) on the phone, even though said announcements made more noise than all the conversations.

@jon Not sure what kind of bug happened today, but a TGV platform got announced more than 20 minutes ahead this morning (a whooping 29 minutes!) 😮 Of course they waited 5 more minutes to let people in so there was a little line at the front of the platform.

SNCF Connect: Bad train ticketing app that worsens every year.

Also SNCF Connect: If you don't like us you can also wait in line to buy your tickets 😂

Happy to report that Trenitalia services appear unaffected by the #CrowdStrike bug. However air conditioning is operating in slightly degraded mode in this carriage (entitling to a 25% refund). Plugs also not working so far 🔌🚫

Bad news for #CrossBorderRail across the Alps this summer: besides the ongoing disruptions on the Frejus (Paris-Torino) and Gotthard (Zurich-Milano) lines since last summer, the Simplon line (Geneva-Milano) is also disrupted from June 9th to Sept 8th, due to track works between Domodossola and Milano.

In summary:
- Geneva-Milano: replacement bus, 6h40 instead of 4h04 (+2h36min).
- Paris-Torino: replacement bus St-Jean-de-Maurienne - Oulx, 6h58 instead of 5h40 (+1h18min).
- Zurich-Milano: using the historic line, 4h17 instead of 3h17 (+1h), except some trains on week-ends (Friday-Sunday).

Even more absurd: a bank put no-parking signs for today and tomorrow on the official bicycle parkings in front of it, because it decided to privatize the sidewalk to advertize the olympics.

Guess what: nobody cares (it's not even nice and it's raining most of the day) and bicycles park anyway because that's what people do when there is no alternative 😅 And apparently now the tree in front of it is only forbidden these two days 🤔

It seems that even the lamp posts need care!
