A few notes on Kyler Murray:
- He was ready for a change and wanted to be released. The Cardinals had no interest in keeping him either.
- AZ is paying his 36.8 million dollar salary this year to not play for them, so this was strictly a football decision to go to the Vikings.
- The Vikings believe a competition can bring out the best in J.J. McCarthy. This is THAT. Murray can win this job, J.J. knows that.
- Minn was looking for their next reclamation project. QBs leave better than they came in. Murray is hoping that's him as well. Hence the no tag clause.
- As opposed to other vets that could have been brought in, Kyler Murray could be the long term answer at QB.
- Not sure what the trade market would be for J.J. McCarthy, probably not much and I see the Vikings hanging onto him.
- Murray hasn't played in this offense before. Look for KOC to find the right blend for K1.
- If McCarthy wins the job, Murray is also protection since J.J. hasn't stayed healthy.
