Almost 50 cities in France have already done away with paid tickets... "Nearly three million people in France can now use urban public transport without paying a fare. That number is likely to grow after the municipal elections... given the proliferation of proposals to make urban transport at least partially free."

French cities' steady march toward free public transport

Ahead of the municipal elections, candidates across the country have promised fare-free transport. Almost 50 cities have already done away with paid tickets, compared to just six before the 2000s.

@cwebber the US is not a country of laws, period. What USPTO says doesn't matter.

The EU however, just 3 days ago adopted text. LLM scammers MUST comply with licenses including payment to train on copyrighted work, regardless of location. And purely LLM generated slop *cannot be copyrighted*. There MUST be significant human contribution.

So purely LLM generated slop to try and license wash something is pretty much definitively unlawful now.

To protect the creative sector in the EU, the use of copyrighted work by artificial intelligence requires transparency and fair remuneration, Parliament says.

@Catvalente there ought to be a named law hat says something like: you probably didn’t solve a problem in ten minutes that experts have been thinking about for years.

I guess It’s a variant of Menken’s Law (every complex problem has a simple, straightforward, incorrect solution). And it’s in the same ballpark as the Dunning-Kruger Effect (novices misunderstand how much they don’t know) and Chesterton’s Fence (do not remove a fence unless you fully understand why it was there in the first place).

But I see this particular scenario often enough that it seems like it should have its own name.

Has anyone checked on Pam Bondi lately?

Remember when Trump admitted white South Afrikaaners as refugees claiming they were suffering "white genocide?"
South African Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber reports that 1000 have returned back to South Africa because America is "too dangerous, too expensive, and too low quality of life."

They would rather live in South Africa and suffer "white genocide" than live in Trump's America. (NOTE: There's no such thing as white genocide, never was, & Trump made it up because he's a fascist).
