I just found the birthday picture!

Image is dated 2015-12-26... so I actually had it for, what... 10.5 yrs? I think the price tag actually says $59.95!

🍻 Pour one out for my homie.

Finally had to retire my trusty HP LaserJet P3005DN. Built in 2008, 69,593 pages printed over its life.

Bought used in 2014 for $80 at RePC. I printed ~13K pages. Printer crashes even when printing built-in reports. Paper jams often.

Aftermarket toner 7 yrs ago gave me 7,728 pages, still reports 64% life and estimates 13,740 pages left.

It's been a great run, bud.

Found out why my HS8's have been making little popping sounds lately.

The sub is a new addition to my system... it's only like 9 months old 😥 RIP

Wanted to share this. A new, full-featured analogue TV/VHS font, with tons of special characters and symbols built in.

I just launched my second official WordPress plugin: **E20 Page Tree**

It's a polished version of a tool I wrote and have been using on personal sites for many years.

It gives site admins a clear, interactive tree view of their site's page hierarchy. There's quick actions, status indicators, and several spreadsheet-friendly export options.

Teams doing audits, SEO reviews, migrations, and general project planning may find this useful!

I made a smol thing I'm excited about 🐾

*Good Boy* is a zero-dependency FreeBSD bootstrapper.

One little sh script with useful commands and playbook support. Quickly set up fresh installs, jails, and more. A simple syntax so your playbooks are easy to read and write.

It's not 100% idempotent or enterprise grade, but it's good enough to speed things up!

No Git or Bash required. Just fetch, chmod, and whistle!

Here's a handy diagram I made showing the main pieces of Jekyll's page building pipeline.

When I was learning Jekyll, I had difficulty visualizing how all of the various parts came together. So, I sat down and mapped it all out. This was way back in 2020!

Just came across the original diagram. Did a little retouching and coloring, and wanted to share it out with anyone who might find it useful!

...(2/2) Findings:

- I was surprised that disk I/O was the biggest bottleneck across these plans.

- Vultr's High Performance shared-CPU plans offer a huge boost in disk performance at a modest cost increase.

- AWS Lightsail plans are limited by disk I/O, but they offer compelling CPU and memory performance (even their smallest plans come with 2 vCPU's).

- AWS Lightsail's compute-optimized plans perform similarly to the general instances, just without the CPU credit accrual/burst limits.

Over the weekend, I decided to benchmark some of the VPS's I host services on. I spun up new FreeBSD instances of varying sizes and benchmarked them using sysbench.

The chart shows the results in three main categories using relative performance numbers, each normalized to "out of 100" for easy comparison... (1/2)
