The College of the Arts (COTA) and the School of Art + Design (A+D) at Portland State University invite applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, commencing Fall 2023. This is a tenure track, 1.0 FTE, 9-month position.We seek an individual whose research, teaching, and collaboration skills will add a complementary perspective to a strong and growing faculty. With DeSantis rising in popularity among Republicans, it’s important to take a closer look at the culture wars he could ignite in his bid for the presidency. They begin with his “Stop WOKE Act”—which just took on an AP African American Studies course. I write about that and more in today’s piece.
In the spirit of taking a closer look at the new and frankly increasingly disturbing crop of GOP leaders, let’s head down to the political swamplands of Florida to examine the education and culture wars recently ignited by Gov. Finished Kate Beaton’s Ducks today and thought it was so well done. Although had a hard time reconciling this moving memoir with my only other encounter with Beaton’s work- reading my kid the amazing story of a princess and her flatulent pony (The Princess and the Pony is a must if you have a picture book need)
D&Q also did such good work with the book. The oil slick duck on the cover under a textured DJ was a nice touch
