apropos anything, please enjoy this video of a bee going at a flower that I managed to take earlier today
(tried to get a longer one but my cab was coming up)

most recently in moz’s very good and complete understanding of consent, this is the second of these “helpy” (as in, meaning to be helpful without being asked for) popovers I’ve gotten in Fx in weeks
sure as hell feels like they’re trying to turn their whole browser into a marketplace
you can turn it off in settings-general, browser section. it was of course once again on by default, without asking me. and it’s telling that the choices are “hide this” and “less pls”, without a “no, fuck off”
I was looking at some stuff around SPIFFE earlier, and happened to note this on the website
it is one *hell* of a choice to only have the commercial products be hyperlinked, and all the open source options/names just be bare text
so damned frustrating how much enclosure has happened (and continues to happen) in the computing and systems space, and the myriad micro-cuts everywhere
while *none* of it is ever an accident, it’s rarely this bare and direct
seen today on mastodon.social
the utter fuck, how do they miss the point this badly?
yet more bullshit turned on in my browser without my consent
mozilla and firefox truly have gone to the wrong end of the consent spectrum, and as various conversations with @firefoxwebdevs has shown, they simply do not understand the problem
I also love how that modal popover _might_ be to make firefox the default browser? the language is unclear
speaking of xmpp the other day, I see that adium still has Google Talk listed in its build
so many things "lost" (because of vendor enclosure and otherwise killing stuff) the last 15~16y :|
oh noes! I've been blocked by the point-evading poster that runs @firefoxwebdevs!
after trying (rather gently) to try highlight to them that their continued evasion irks a lot of fedi users (many of whom are keenly aware of the patterns of abuse), they went "...who? me?!"
then I posted "hmm, your sudden silence (while posting elsewhere) kinda speaks loudly"
they *huffily* replied
3 toots later I'm blocked!
oh woe is me, whatsoever shall I do
the thread's up in public, feel free to check
seen under firefox labs, a shopping and todo lists feature
just fuck off and let people use extensions, @mozilla. you don't have to katamari every damn thing into "your product". it's a browser.
