@heribert_nix In meinen Augen ist daran durchaus etwas dran. Es heult kein Motor auf und ab Stillstand ist die volle Beschleunigung abrufbar.

Mir ist es bereits mehrmals passiert, dass Tesla-Fahrer mitten in der Stadt plötzlich mit Vollgas beschleunigen und ich beim Überqueren der Straße dadurch plötzlich große Angst bekommen hab, da ich damit bei der Einschätzung, ob frei ist, nicht gerechnet hab.

Das mag jetzt nicht BEV-exklusiv sein, aber unerwartet hohe Beschleunigung ist eine Gefahr.

But personally I'm not really a fan of #LibreOffice. For instance I think its UI is incredibly outdated (it lacks basic things like aligning objects to each other) and I've followed many discussions around UI improvements and they didn't inspire confidence (many weren't open to change).

There's also #Collabora Office, but at the moment it's rather clunky. E. g. it still saves empty documents if you just open it without ever clicking save.

@thaodan Yes, that's correct. Depending on the distro, it can include showing the desktop folder though, which is something you might not want when doing presentations.

In general it's strange that the desktop folder is not shared across screens, like in any other desktop environment, instead each screen displays its own instance of the folder.

As I've used GNOME for a decade, I like desktops without icons, so it's less of an issue for me, but for other people it sometimes is.

@thaodan With desktop clutter I mostly mean some shortcomings KDE Plasma has due to its extremely modular nature.

For instance, one thing I always disliked the most is that each new screen gets a default layout (wallpaper, panel, desktop folder).
In any other desktop new screens inherit the wallpaper and sometimes the panel, which is great if you are doing presentations or switch monitors a lot.

@thaodan That's true, especially window rules are a nice KWin feature. Unfortunately they have some bugs, so they aren't a must-have for me, as long as I can manually move fullscreen applications to another screen (like you can in GNOME via the overview).

Maybe I should just take the plunge and clutter my home dir with new config files to see what issues I encounter with COSMIC and how I like it after a week or two. 🤔

@itsfoss As far as I understand it, ONLYOFFICE seems to use OOXML internally. ODF support seems to be achieved by converting the document to/from OOXML whenever opening or saving an ODF document, which results in compatibility issues.

So, due to this architectural design, it might be more or less impossible for Euro-Office to switch to ODF as the default format.

Matrix ist wenigstens ein europäisches Produkt und dezentral. Also eine klare Verbesserung.

Bei Signal wüsste ich nicht, wie ich jemanden davon überzeugen soll, denn ich wüsste kein Argument für diesen Nischen-Messenger. "Nicht Facebook" ist für mich nicht ausreichend.
