A new poll finding voters think Donald Trump is a centrist should be a wake-up call for the news media

The news media isn't doing its job

Finding Gravity

Jack Kemp was Bob Dole’s official running mate in 1996. But Newt Gingrich was more useful to Democrats, so we did everything we could to run against “Dole/Gingrich” instead of “Dole/Kemp”

Trump/Thomas 2024

Nearly 30 years ago, Democrats chose a rhetorical running mate for their Republican opponent. That playbook could be the key to winning in 2024.

Finding Gravity

LEFT: Stephen Gillers insisting Sam Alito cannot possibly have known that the flag flying outside his home was upside down, and anyone who says otherwise lacks objectivity.

RIGHT: Sam Alito's workplace, with flags in every direction.

Pretty sure Alito knows what the damn flag looks like.

In pardoning this murderer, Greg Abbott claimed Perry was "standing his ground."

Bullshit. Perry told friends he would kill a protester then claim self defense ... and then he went out and killed a protester and claimed self defense.

That isn't standing your ground, that's hunting.

NYT leadership, from the latest Sulzberger down, constantly pat themselves on the back for their "independent" journalism--and in the next breath tell us their coverage is designed to appeal to Republicans. https://www.findinggravity.net/p/the-new-york-times-protests-too-much
The New York Times Protests Too Much

The paper's critics are offering principled vision of journalism, while NYT leadership responds like campaign hacks.

Finding Gravity
The NYT responds to clear, principled criticism like campaign hacks, inventing straw men to lash out at. This response also inadvertently confirms the substance of the criticism: That NYT treats asymmetrical things as symmetrical in service of false "balance." https://www.findinggravity.net/p/the-new-york-times-protests-too-much

The Supreme Court just handed Trump a win

Even if the Court ultimately rules against Trump, by delaying his prosecution they've already helped him avoid accountability

Take Back the Court
The New York Times has mentioned Christopher Rufo more often in the last year than at least 4 cabinet officials (I didn't check them all) https://www.findinggravity.net/p/the-new-york-times-is-a-right-wing

making it harder for black people to vote and women to make decisions about their own bodies while genially chatting over some herbal tea in the Supreme Court dining room

The Supreme Court Stephen Breyer served on handed George W. Bush the White House, gutted the Voting Rights Act, overturned Roe v Wade, and invited corporations to flood our elections with cash.

It was a tool wielded by America's political minority to impose their will on the rest of us. But they did it as friends, so it's cool I guess.
