Thanks, everyone, for another great #Monsterdon, and especially thanks to @Taweret for hosting, @Cherizilla for #MonsterdonBingo, and @JoeWynne for the themed drink.

Cheers!

#monsterdon PS - After careful consideration, I'm pretty sure the anime/manga Pet Shop of Horrors can be read as a prequel to this movie, where
Seymour got the plant from the bishounen curator of the anime/manga shop, as the premise of that shop is the item gives you what you want but also tragically consumes you.
@floatybirb Hot girls and money, you say? Tell me, where does one get ahold of one of these murder plants? Are they on sale in the lobby, maybe? #Monsterdon
@strangefour I like that's Mushnik's standard operating procedure is 'ACAB' #Monsterdon

Maybe the real horrors were the capitalism that we found along the way

@ramsey @miru the shojou manga it's clearly based on makes sense, i'm sure of it

Anyway, this concludes this #monsterdon thread. Umm... remember not to murder people to feed your murder plant I guess? The adoration from hot girls and the money to buy your fancy dinners isn't worth it?

I think that's what we were going for?

Anyway thanks to @Taweret for hosting this, um, floral tragedy I guess?

A movie written in dive bars and coffee shops, rewritten countless times, and done on a shoestring budget to get another movie out of another movie's props, with two days of indoor shooting.

If you expected solid cinematography, good plotting and pacing and a nice neat bow of an ending, your expectations may need moderation.

Also, it's #monsterdon, we're not lining up Masterpieces Of Cinema here.

Thanks @Taweret for this cornerstone of film.

Okay now I really gotta go wash dishes. As always, thanks @Taweret for hosting, @JoeWynne for trivia, @Cherizilla for bingo, and @miru for the streamโ€”and if you tune in now, the director's cut of the 1986 Little Shop of Horrors is starting NOW! ๐ŸŽฌ

I award Little Shop of Horrors (1960) 5 out of 5 spooky murdered face flowers, purely on the strength of how fucked up and weird it was.

Almost every sequence of dialog was baffling. Also, it was sort of a greek tragedy, just with a killer plant, and the flaw was a hunger for money and adoration? It managed to be both completely disturbed but also completely cheerful and not scary about how disturbed it was.

All I can think of is Robocop.
@virtualbri that quote probably applies to most US defense expenditures, just doubly so for any that pop up this year.
