Wingsung 618 may be my favourite pen in my whole collection

The ink is a mix of Iroshizuku Chiku Rin and residual Caran d’Ache Hypnotic Turquoise left in the feed

This rarely happens

So I pay attention when it does

The stronger team is seldom undervalued by the bookies; much less when they're at home

The markets knew something my model didn't, as #AstonVilla played so poorly they made #Tottenham look like a Premier League side for the first time this season

(a broken clock is right twice a day)

Long term we are PRINTING money on this. Villa's European obligations meant we stumbled upon variance

I don't know who needs to hear this (me), but as a pro tip - turn off your VPN when trying to spin up a local website using docker

Matchweek 34 Bets

🐺 Wolves have been on better form, despite being guaranteed relegation after West Ham drew to Palace. They’re at home this week against a Spurs side in terrible form - they have nothing to lose, but everything to gain

🦔 Got a little hedge with a draw in this game

What do you think of my other two bets this week?

I didn't check before last night but wishing I had because backing Brighton would have been a good shout, even though only marginally above my 5% threshold

I had a similar case with them against Spurs that I thought was an easy banker

You can read about *that* one here: https://ferret-stack.github.io/Matchweek-33-review/

🐦 Brighton 3 - 0 🔵 Chelsea

On paper, these teams are pretty similarly matched, but the way this game played out was anything but evenly matched

Brighton had 45% chance of winning. The Poisson distribution tells us all we need to know; the home side had 7% chance of netting three goals and maintaining a clean sheet

Chelsea? <1%

About to check what my model says about other games this week

So it actually happened.. 🤯

Sure it’s not “valid”, but is there no such thing as common sense anymore?

@ferret_stack Funnily enough, I'd been learning more about them a couple days ago. It's meant to be pronounced "Platinum", which is what Mentmore Manufacturing Co. originally wanted to rename themselves to. But because of UK laws at the time, they couldn't trademark a material name, so they added the silent "g".

Bonus fact: Japan's Platinum Pen Co and Mentmore were both founded in 1919, although Mentmore didn't switch to the Platignum moniker until 1925.
