Happy #iPadOS 26.5 release day, fellow #SafariExtension devs! It fixes the bug introed in 26.4 causing Safari to ALWAYS crash if users tried to open ANY extension's popup while using Compact Tabs.
Imagine this had already shipped in 26.4.1/.2: we'd have missed out on so many unwarranted 1★ reviews!
Just wrote about building a Mac-assed app in pure SwiftUI, based on my experience porting Shopie to macOS.
The TL;DR: we’re not there yet.
If you’re interested in why, I collected the issues I ran into with selection states, context menus, drag & drop, keyboard shortcuts, toolbars, and all the tiny details that make Mac apps feel Mac.
"Das Gewicht der Welt" runs tomorrow at Cinecitta in Nuremberg, 11 AM - with a subsequent discussion with the director and one of the protagonists as part of their movie tour.
It's probably not an easy film to watch, but an important one. I'll be there - and am really looking forward to both the film and the discussion.

#TimeMachine on #macOS 26.5 still failed trying to back up to my Samba server.
The fix was to remove
fruit:time machine max size=…
from the share's smb configuration. As an alternative one can use tmutil to enforce a quota:
tmutil destinationinfo
sudo tmutil setquota [destination uuid] [quota-in-gb]
I‘m remembering my friend @uliwitness today, who died last November.
He was a wonderful friend, a community builder, a musician, and an incredibly talented developer. He also laughed the hardest at my really bad jokes, which made me love him even more. I’ll miss you a lot Uli!
