Any recommendations for a #firewall ?

A long time ago In uses to use #smoothwallexpress but I have no idea if there is anything better these days.

@QasimRashid my dumb self: oh, unindicted not indicted-by-the-UN

As an ex dev, I can honestly say, Devs are pretty poor at innovation. They're great at making it work, but the best ideas come from industry. People working with substandard tools, who think, why don't we do this?

What tech excells at, is dazzling the tech illiterate. Which is a winning move if that person is willing to flood you with money to see what happens.

As long as you can sell the idea of world changing innovation, then that's how you really, ultimately make big money out of tech.

@goldstein Allegedly killed insurance exec' surely?
@tiffanycli look those channel resolution metrics are so good right now tho

Shout-out to Google who for maybe 2 years now keeps begging me add a birthday to help them comply with the law. Hey mofo, I've had that account since long enough it's of age anywhere I can think of, in it's own right.

I see through the bs. That's why it's just about getting no email anymore. You can keep the spam. I don't mind.

Don't believe the hype. 1/4

Public Enemy said it in the 80's. I'm saying it now.

Crypto has hype. Government issued currency doesn't.

NFTs had hype. Going on a bender and blowing your money didn't.

AI has hype. Doing things for realsies doesn't.

So we see headlines that a company (or two!) that has thrown enormous money into AI is laying off staff, to be replaced by AI. Amazing. But it is just part of the hype.

4/4
Sure, maybe it can pass some exams. But can it synthesise new knowledge, express a new idea, defend it's conjectures?

Remember, in a regulated financial system, there is still nothing "wrong" or illegal about hyping up your abilities. But let the numbers speak for themselves.

3/4

If I could predict the winning lottery numbers, why would I sell that system? Why DO people sell those systems?

Because they are scams.

They cannot do what they say they can do. They will never be able to do what they say they can.

There is no reason to believe AI is anything more than a lottery prediction system, based on past knowledge, past writing, past experience. It is fundamentally a backward looking system and cannot create new ideas.

2/4

They can afford to hire those people again down the track. But importantly, what they really want, is to sell the idea that if THEY are doing it, then maybe you should too.

But I can't help but think, if there was anything to it, they would have kept it to themselves. Because IMAGINE THE COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE!

So straight away, we can know, for sure, 100%, AI is hype, and that it can't fulfill the dream.
