#introduction time!

I am an assistant professor in the departments of Psychology and Learning and Instruction at the University at Buffalo.

I study how learners deal with variability in their input, figuring out when to attend to it and when to ignore it, and how it shapes subsequent learning, primarily in #infants and #toddlers.

Building a new developmental database, anybody do this in RedCAP and have advice on how to build in tracking of participants for age-specific studies? Or open to other options but university is pushing RedCAP #DevelopmentalScience
Not particularly hot take: the semester should end before thanksgiving break. Students don't want to come back to class for 1-2 weeks, and it's hard to teach students who are already burned out.

Not sure what the norms are over here yet, but sharing a new paper with @bergelsonlab testing how talker variability impacts learning of distinct sounding novel words for 14-month-olds. Spoiler alert: it actually interferes with learning!

Note to self to only ever use a credit card I am the main account owner on for conference travel, otherwise be prepared to prove I am in fact married to my husband for reimbursement purposes.
