Also, it’s insane that no decent CAD program has pricing for makers/hobbyists. It's either "here take our free, but very limited, awkward product" or "buy a subscription that costs $1500 per year".
Currently trying out various CAD programs to see which would be a good fit. Started with Shapr3D, but it doesn’t have parametric modeling. Moved to Onshape, but pricing is $1500 year and free version dictates that all my work is public domain (nope). Trying FreeCAD now, but I feel like I’m using a Linux tool from the ‘90s.
Of course there is a video about it: “How a typeface helped launch Apollo”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUW89NpDYJw

I wonder if the Apollo 11 mission choose “Futura” as a typeface because the “O” glyph is a perfect circle, and hence the words “Foot” and “Moon” stands out from the crowd.

⭐ I created a new series to share an excerpt of the things that occupy my mind and inspire me. It's a mix of design, photography, technology, and various other things. I called it "Die Notizen", which means "Notes" in German. Check out the first issue:

Die Notizen No. 1

Notiz: /noˈtiːʦ/. Genitive, singular Notiz | nominative, plural Notizen. The German word for “Note”. This post is an experiment, and it might be a long-term project, depending on my overall mood. My Goal: share an excerpt of the things that occupied my mind and inspired me. Here are some of the

I bought some books to learn more about typography. Fonts are fascinating, and I recently bought my first font (Berkeley Mono). Observing how a font evokes certain feelings made me curious about the technical and historical aspects of fonts.
The book “Pictures from Home” by Larry Sultan is something that I believe everyone should carry in their home library. It’s warm and cozy but also slaps in your face the fact that we get old, that our parents get old, and that all good things come to an end.
TIL that @pschiller uses a Leica SL2 for wildlife photography. https://mstdn.social/@pschiller/109809811776754232

@[email protected] Hi Kevin. Today I shot a Leica SL2 with 90-280 APO-Vario-Elmarit lens and my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Both great in the rain 📷
