These are just some of the times that the US has invaded or attempted to invade, annex, or otherwise threaten the sovereignty of Canada. Trump’s threats are nothing new and they’re not going to go away when he does. This is what the US is and has always been.

Whether it’s branded as “manifest destiny,” “continentalism,” or a “security perimeter” within a “Greater North America,” aggressive expansionism is a fundamental part of the American political ethos.
