Morgen ist bei uns in Trier der CSD. Ein paar Faschos haben eine Gegendemo angekündigt. Hoffen wir, dass es bei ein paar wenigen Faschos bleibt. So weit so ekelhaft. Der Geschäftsführer des queeren Zentrums bei uns schreibt, dass die Polizei zu unserem Schutz auch beim Fest hinterher dabei sein wird und dass beim Fest auch der "queere Polizeiverband velspol" einen Stand haben wird. Bei Problemen könnten wir uns dann auch jederzeit vertrauensvoll an die wenden. Es ist eine Demo. Es ist eine Gegendemo angekündigt. Ja, klar werden Polizist*innen da sein, aber müssen wir denen so viel Raum geben und das als vollkommen unproblematisch darstellen? Müssen wir denen einen eigenen Stand geben? Was ist aus "No cops at pride" geworden?
Aber was erwarte ich eigentlich von jemensch, der sich von einer Tabakfirma sponsoren lässt?

Algoma district. :)
According to iNaturalist, this butterfly has been found more often in Ottawa than here.
This is the first observation for our city.

For Ontario there is this very nice pocket guide to butterflies available, which I highly recommend:

It also says that this butterfly flies in March, which is probably more true for southern Ontario. On the other hand, I suspect that these early butterflies are probably overwinterers, like the Mourning Cloak (Nymphalis antiopa) !
But when it has been seen here in Algoma, it has usually been in the summer.
