Am 27. & 28. Dezember 1984 veranstaltete der Chaos Computer Club in Hamburg den ersten Hackerkongress, der seither jährlich stattfindet. Die Tagesschau berichtete damals von den "Externer Link: jungen Tüftlern und Computerfans", in deren Arbeitsgruppen Themen wie "die Einführung ins Telefonsystem, Grundwissen über Computer, Bastelanleitungen für elektronische Briefkästen, Datenschutz und Datenknacken, aber auch juristische Informationen" auf dem Programm standen. #37c3
