Awkward moment on Zoom. Host invites Female-participant to speak. She unmutes to speak. At the same time, the only Male participant jumps in, unmutes and speaks. The invited Female participant goes back on mute.

Maybe I'm the only one to notice - everyone else seems unfazed.

Time for me to take a few breaths to avoid looking confused and a bit frustrated.

I'm doing the social media month again in July with a group of adventurous people in Breathing Space - the breathwork school I'm in. So, watch this space for more updates this month!

Self-Destruction of Complex Systems: Communicative and Structural Aspects

This book is the first attempt to provide a general theory of self-destruction in complex systems applicable to natural, social and cultural phenomena. The contributors work collaboratively to prove that many of the nondistributed complex systems in nature and society sooner or later experience critical development leading to unintended and irreversible self-annihilation. The individual chapters also show that the relations of such systems to their own distinctiveness and other systems may resul

Shall we take a breath?

Maybe a double inhale?

It's great for bringing the nervous system down quickly, so excellent for anxiety or tension.

Ready?

Let's take a big inhale through the nose.

And hold.

Take another sip of air in. And hold.

Exhale slowly through the mouth for as long as possible.

Andrew Huberman describes this here: https://youtube.com/watch?v=lFEYbEjjFvs

That's it. Have a nice day!

Moooorning! ⭐️

Shall we do a bit of coherence breathing?

This is basically equal length inhales and exhales, whatever suits your breathing pattern in this moment. Sometimes, it'll be 4 seconds in (or a count of 4) in and 4 out. Sometimes, it'll be 5 in, 5 out, or 6 in, 6 out.

Ready?

Let's do a round of 5 in, 5 out, today.

Inhale.... 1... 2... 3... 4... 5...

And...

Exhale... and count 1... 2... 3... 4... 5...

That's it!

Have a nice day! ⭐️

Let's take a moment to breathe.

Breath in.

Feel the breath come in through your nostrils... hold for 2 seconds.

Breath out - for as long as you can.

Repeat if that feels good. Or not - either is ok.

When you exhale, it can help to blow out through 'pursed lips' (like you're blowing through) a straw. This allows us to control the amount of air going out so we can exhale for longer which tells our body we're safe and puts our nervous system into a rest state.

That's it.

Bye!
