The CEO of The Onion set the publication's goal for 2026 to have more subscribers than The Washington Post. At the rate the latter is going, that won't take long.

"For reasons we don't like or understand, our work has become increasingly important."

"Look, we're an independent company, we don't use AI to write headlines and make art, and we're one of roughly three publications who are up for the fight. Unlike other places, The Onion is quadrupling down on being a pain in the ass, politically. Are you?

It's been a big year for us at The Onion, but as media collapse accelerates, it is unfortunately going to be a fucking great year for us next year. So I sent an email to our members with our goal for 2026: More print subscribers than The Washington Post. This is, tragically and hilariously, feasible. Here's a note I sent to our members with how we spent our money last year, and how they can expect us to abuse it next year. We spent a lot of money taunting ICE and Jeffrey Epstein, we spent even more money yelling at Congress for not taunting ICE and Jeffrey Epstein, and we stupidly continue to try to buy InfoWars. In short: The Onion is an independent company, we don’t use AI to write headlines or make art, and we’re one of roughly three publications who are up for the fight. Unlike other places, The Onion is quadrupling down on being a pain in the ass, politically. Quadruple down with us. The world might make a tiny bit of sense. | 76 comments on LinkedIn

After “How do we stop Trump?” the second most common question I’ve received this week is “How do we stop Musk?”

Musk's access to our private data is blatant corruption. It is a coup. And while we continue to wait for Democratic leadership to act—what can we as ordinary citizens and residents of this nation do? Enter the Privacy Act of 1974 and a clear call to action each person can and should take.

As always, no paywall. Please read, act, and share.

Greenland’s parliament the Inatsisartut today passed a new law making it illegal for foreign entities to donate to political parties or politicians in Greenland. The law was passed with 22 to 0 votes.

That’s how much the people of Greenland want a hostile takeover from Trump and his cronies.

And in case you are wondering: X is NOT a popular medium in Greenland, so Musk will not be able to tamper with the public narrative

In 1933 Hitler's forces invaded the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft (the leading centre of research on trans and gay people at that time) and burned all of the books and records (after taking care to note down the details of all the patients to round up later). Philosophically this is what the US CDC is now doing by purging everything to do with trans people.

Hitler used propaganda to convince the population that Jews were subhuman. Trump claims Haitians are eating cats and dogs.

Hitler did not want to hire people with disabilities. Trump is introducing policies to ensure they have a lower chance of being hired federally.

Hitler moved immigrants to camps in Poland. Trump moves immigrants to camps in Guantanamo, Cuba.

But at least Trump's wealthy donors are not heiling at his ralli… wait a minute…

The U.S. government questioning Native Americans' birthright citizenship isn’t just a bureaucratic issue—it’s a fundamental attack on Indigenous sovereignty. Native people are dual citizens: members of our sovereign nations first and foremost, with U.S. citizenship imposed on us in 1924 to erode that sovereignty. Now, the state is threatening to claw back even this imposed recognition, undermining treaty obligations and the legal frameworks that acknowledge our nations’ existence.

This is settler colonialism in action—using laws to erase and control. We’ve always existed as independent peoples, long before the U.S. imagined itself into being, and we’ll continue to exist regardless of what the settler state decides. This fight isn’t about fitting into their system; it’s about defending our right to govern ourselves on our terms.
