I started watching this new Japanese Netflix series last night before I realized Kore-eda was even involved in it (although the first episode brought to mind the gentle quality of my favorite of his films, OUR LITTLE SISTER).

Since our group is pretty much done with awards (AFCA winners will be announced later today) and Sundance isn't til later this month, I've been checking out more on MUBI. Sunday I watched LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT (with that masterful hour-long take) and yesterday a sweet mystery-ish anime called THE CASE OF HANA & ALICE.
