More #PyConUS videos are up, including my _absolute favourite moment_ of the conference: Van Lindberg and @ejodlowska picking up their _tremendously_ deserved Distinguished Service Awards, *in person*. (I hadn't seen either in a few years, it was very emotional.)

They are both pinnacles of the Python community and set extraordinary, practically unattainable examples for the rest of us. I'm glad we got to cheer for them. (It was LOUD, so loud alarms went off!)

Anyone have recommendations for pitch deck designers? Or designers that may be willing to work on pitch decks?

Last week Thursday in DC someone asked me to watch their laptop (advised they take it with)..today at a coffee shop in Chicago I've seen two people abandon their laptops to go to the restroom.

Even though I am sure I look like a trustworthy person and this coffee shop is super hipster and chill, I cringe when I witness stuff like this happening in 2023.

Our machine learning team was discussing LLaMa & alpaca this morning. One of our devs shared this in the chat jokingly. During the call I only read the left half so I thought it was a legit comparison of the animal...

Exceeded expectations, 10/10

In September I will be flying to Berlin for my second marathon!

I am a huge supporter of no kill shelters, after all, our sweet baby Enzo is from PAWS Chicago. When I realized I could run the Berlin Marathon with PAWS Chicago, I knew I found my team! PAWS Chicago is dedicated to building No Kill communities – starting with a No Kill Chicago – where all healthy and treatable pets are saved. Since PAWS Chicago’s founding in 1997, the number of homeless animals euthanized per year in Chicago has dropped more than 80 percent. In 2016, PAWS Chicago found loving homes for more than 5,100 homeless pets. But there is more work to be done and your generosity is crucial to this effort. Please consider supporting me by making a donation and helping PAWS Chicago provide vital medical care, food and shelter to thousands of homeless pets this year. PAWS receives no government funding and relies solely on people like you to help provide continued care for Chicago's homeless animals. Your support will allow us to build a truly humane and compassionate community, one pet at a time. Please consider donating to my cause. If you are feeling extra generous, please consider sharing my page with your network or check with your employer if they will match your donation to make the most out of your generosity. Thank you for your support!

How many people still cross-post to twitter? Before their fiasco, I opened a trademark support ticket to get my org name handle, and it's still in the works. Do I still want to pursue it is the question...

Just wrapped up reading The Cuckoo's Egg and really enjoyed it, especially from the historical aspect.

Are there similar classics out there folks recommend reading?

Saturday my friend and I participated in a Hyrox competition. We do a lot of weights and cardio together and I have some cardio endurance from marathon training still. It was a challenging workout, in a good way.

BUT I have to say the event itself was a let down because it lacked the energy and organization that I witnessed at other events (music was only in part of the course, our time tracking devices stopped working, they didn't wait for the group to arrive on-time before giving instructions, very little spectators). Probably won't do another Hyrox event in the future especially since it is not a cheap event.

We did get some nice photos from the event though!

I have tried (and enjoy) Guayaki Sparkling Yerba Mate and Trader Joe's yerbas but nothing beats Club Mate!
