@impactology some* of the major elements that come to my mind in pedagogy are:

1) Authentic representation of a discipline and subjects/topics that entail them
2) Representing the discipline in the form of its current academic development, societal contributions and history of such developments.
3) Empathetic and respectful discourse with the students that helps them explore the discipline using their own independent agency by the means of questioning, study and interpersonal conversations.

@neilcar I think this happens because on the fedi no algorithm is trying to appease "the masses" and hence pushing down on content it doesnt deem marketable while overblowing content that it does. Hence here you find mostly people who would like to see and interact with the kind of content you post with the only algorithm being the user base itself.

If my proposition means anything: I absolutely DO NOT WANT any algorithm other than "recent posts first" in my news feed, nor do I want any algorithm in the fediverse itself because believe it or not: even if I were to select (recent posts) among other algorithmic options, my conversations with others are still going to get affected by algorithms.

Also, algorithms means more data collection, I'd say to heck with that.
