"New straw for the old broom..."

I followed an infosec / arduino / maker person on Instagram a while back, and he's just switched all his content to pro-fascism material. It's terrifying how people hide that stuff until they decide it's safe to go mask-off.
Has anyone listened to clippings new album Dead Channel Sky yet? It's a hip-hop concept album loosely inspired by William Gibson (I think?) Has a lot of crunchy beats and nerdy lyrics about razorgirls and hackers
Came to work in character for World Book Day as a depressive Gibsonian protagonist (dressed normally as myself)

Here is another weird thing I generated this weekend - this responds to touch/mouse by creating a topographic map type display. You can draw little islands with colorful lines. The water slowly ebbs in and out. There are randomly generated clouds blowing through. It works on your phone or in a browser window. If you are on a keyboard enabled device, holding shift will lets you "dig" back down.

If you make a cool island, share a screenshot :)

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

https://18f.org/

18F: We are dedicated to the American public and we're not done yet

For over 11 years, 18F has been proudly serving the American people to make government technology work better. We are non-partisan civil servants. 18F has worked on hundreds of projects, all designed to make government technology not just efficient but effective, and to save money for American taxpayers.

Always very funny when regional newspapers quote reddit as a source and you get statements like "Len1nistG00ner420 says the new Blu ray movie releases are poorly upscaled with AI" and then you have to explain what all those words mean to a not-terminally-online elderly relative
In danger of getting into an argument on a different site as to whether Santa is an agent of the surveillance state, or a radical wealth redistributor...
