Does anyone know why these auto-play settings don't seem to work in the trashy #Patreon app? Every time I go to the comments of a post the audio starts playing.

@caseynewton It was kind of you to not correct @kevinroose on the meaning of Hard Fork. From OED:

hard fork (v): the act of starting a podcast by co-opting the feed of another podcast started by @karaswisher.

Nobody can make me stop using it.
I've been seeing this #TechDebt comic going around. It is funny because of the immense gap between the engineer's POV and the project manager's POV. Many engineers think it is funny because of how obvious the problem is. Why can't the project manager see what is in front of his eyes? But I think it reveals a lot more about most engineer's inability to explain the state of a code base. We should strive to make tools that communicate, as clearly as this comic, the state of a code base.

I've heard people complain about the x86-64 instruction set and how complicated it has grown. Oh my god. It is insane. Intel must have an immense library with a thousand librarians to catalogue all of this stuff.

Anyway, the challenge is fun! Check it out here:

The JIT calculator challenge

Advent of code has come and passed, what should I do now with so much free time? Fear not! The JIT calculator challenge is here. 1. The challenge Back when Rust was in its infancy, the official website featured an example program to showcase the languageโ€™s syntax. It was a toy calculator, implemented as an interpreter in 20 lines of code. Why talk about website archaeology, though? We are not here for nostalgiaโ€™s sake, are we?

ROFL!

You know those ivy league schools. Just so good at teaching people to make software.

Yes. Yes, please. OMG YES.

Thank you @acollierastro

@slightlyoff You'll probably get a kick out of this job posting by GitHub. Sounds like the React transition might not be going so well ๐Ÿ˜‰

@b0rk Hypothetically, if a company wanted to get 100+ print copies ordered and sent to 100+ destinations, what is the best method for accomplishing that? I'd like to suggest my company buy a print copy for all engineers. It seems like there is a bulk discount for PDFs but not for print copies. I'm guessing that is due to the shipping costs differing. Is there a non-web way to make such a bulk order if I'm able to convince my company to budget for this?
Nor should it be, #systemd.
