Dutch parliament sends motion to government, asking them to make sure the DNS (Domain Name Service) for the .nl TLD (Top Level Domain) is running on infrastructure that is physically located in the Netherlands. The planned outsourcing of (parts of) the infrastructure to AWS is to be reversed and the government shall inform the parliament of the outcome before the summer break. https://mastodon.nl/@bert_hubert/114184175675997330

I recently saw an amazing Navajo rug at the National Gallery of Art. It looks abstract at first, but it is a detailed representation of the Intel Pentium processor. Called "Replica of a Chip", it was created in 1994 by Marilou Schultz, a Navajo/DinΓ© weaver and math teacher. Intel commissioned the weaving as a gift to the American Indian Science & Engineering Society. 1/6

Dear developers: Please stop using random valid domains in your examples or documentation, there are dedicated domain names and IP ranges for that.

For domain names for example use: example.com

Reference: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc6761#section-6.5

For IP address ranges for example use: 203.0.113.0/24
or
2001:DB8::/32

Reference: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc5737#section-3 [IPv4] or https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc3849#section-4 [IPv6]

Thanks!
The infrastructure people.

RFC 6761: Special-Use Domain Names

This document describes what it means to say that a Domain Name (DNS name) is reserved for special use, when reserving such a name is appropriate, and the procedure for doing so. It establishes an IANA registry for such domain names, and seeds it with entries for some of the already established special domain names.

Damn, it annoys me to no end that #Canonical claims #Ubuntu Server requires "1 gigabyte or more" memory, but when netbooting it downloads the entire 2 GB ISO and mounts it.

Guess I'll have to settle for good old #Debian on devices with less than ~2 GB of memory.

A woman who rang ABC Sydney radio said she found out about the Optus outage from her cat.

The cat has an automatic wi-fi feeder (connected to Optus) & when breakfast wasn't delivered at 6:10 am, the cat went to the bedroom to lodge a complaint with management.

Seems like GitHub's name squatting policy means squat since they don't accept requests about it.

How can I get an organisation with the username of one that is squatted by another org?

Is trademark/copyright the only way to go?
