The European Parliament just replaced Google's search Engine for Quant as the default on every MEP's computer. French, no tracking, no profiling, no data to US computers.
It's time for the early and late majority to step into European - and digital souvereignty.
I am not against Google per sé, yet I choose governments and business models that share and support my values of transparent and democratic technological infrastructure.

"Europe talks about digital sovereignty but never actually does anything." The European Parliament just replaced Google with Qwant as the default search engine on every MEP's computer! Qwant is French. Privacy-first. No tracking. No profiling. No data sent to US servers. And they're building their own search index, called Staan, together with Ecosia, another European search tool. Google has about 90% of the European search market. Not because it's the only option. Because it's been the default for so long that most people have never even questioned it! That's exactly what defaults do. They make choices for you, until someone decides to change them. Matthias and I switched to Ecosia / Qwant months ago. Now the European Parliament is doing the same ;) If it's good enough for 720 MEPs, it's good enough for your browser! Just do an experiment for a week... Go to your settings. Onze privé-gegevens zijn bij overname door een Amerikaans bedrijf niet veilig! Dit lijkt ons niet de veilige manier nu president Trump in Amerika aan het roer staat. Dit kan misgaan! Als de Nederlandse overheid iets doet wat Trump niet leuk vindt, kan hij met een druk op de knop onze overheid uit zetten. Dat is dus echt wel een groot gevaar!
