Removed the back from a homemade octave mandolin and I only broke one brace that was hopelessly glued to the kerfing.

ok I ended up with someone's homemade.....octave mandolin/octofone thing. that scarf joint is a little frightening

Picked up a cigar box guitar this weekend. Looks pretty ancient until you notice the laser-cut pickup flatwork

where the fuck is my paint

was too impatient to do any finishing, so while I wait for my paint order I decided to throw strings on and start doing a setup. My verdict: the Jazzmaster style “screw thread” bridge saddles are still horrible. I could have angled the neck pocket myself, but cutting up a lacroix box and stacking the pieces was easier. My fret work is getting better; only a couple scratchy spots. The .25” square tube truss rod is working _very_ well. I haven’t measured relief but it’s definitely within reason
