There's a new all-time renewable generation record in ERCOT with solar & wind combining for 46,320 megawatts today, good enough for 60% of demand most of a high demand (~77GW) day. Beats the old record by 3,000 MW! Wholesale cost of power is very low despite the heat @ ~$20/MWh.
Today was #2 all-time for batteries & #4 all-time for solar in ERCOT, per Grid Status. Demand exceeded 76,000 megawatts, well short of the June record, but those batteries were needed as 15,000 MW of gas & coal plants were offline today. Rare to see this many outages in June.

Power demand was above 77 gigawatts today, extraordinary demand for a Sunday. All-time June record is ~80GW. No conservation alerts because we had plenty of spare capacity. 50% of power on peak came from wind & solar. Wholesale power prices were very low. #txlege #txenergy
