#nextdoor is a cancer.

I refuse to use Facebook, so I'm locked out of FB marketplace. That really leaves eBay, Craigslist, and Nextdoor.

I installed Nextdoor, and was immediately BARRAGED by emails and notifications. Every time I would get an email, I would hit "Unsubscribe", log in, and be told I unsubscribed. Then, I would get another email, hit "Unsubscribe" and move on.

After the fifth day of this, I finally went to investigate. Not only is there no global "Unsubscribe" email button that I can find, but there are 52 (!) different email toggles you have to check to never receive an email from this app.

Fifty. Two.

They are desperate to keep you on the app, and it shows.

Props to the #wikipedia editor who added subtitles to the Howler Monkey sounds. Got a good chuckle from that.
My daughter says her Lego figurines are admiring her new unicorn Lego set that she got for early #Christmas today. Looks more like Children of the (Uni)Corn to me.

I spend a lot of time (probably too much time) thinking about my place in things, whether I'm growing as a person or stagnating, where I can improve, what metrics I should use, what's valuable, all that jazz.

In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a big deal, but: My skills in building physical things have always been terrible. It's been something that I've been aware of and wanted to fix, but never had the energy to focus on.

And then today, I mounted a simple shelf with two brackets, perfectly level, in under two hours. I cut the wood to fit, and even put guards on the outside edge.

It's so silly how proud that makes me, but it's a skill I just got better at over the years with small adjustments and tiny moments of learning, and that feels like the purest definition of life #experience changing you for the better.
